Celebrating Steven Ewaskiw: A Top 40 Under 40 Honouree
We’re proud to announce that Steven Ewaskiw, Executive Vice President of Finance at Cantiro, has been named one of Edify Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40 for 2025 — a prestigious honour that recognizes leaders who are shaping the future of our city with vision, compassion, and impact.

A Strategic Leader with a Heart for Community
Steven’s journey to Cantiro began with a bold career pivot. On track to become a partner at a major accounting firm, he received a call from Cantiro’s founder and CEO, George Cantalini, inviting him to take on the role of controller. That leap into industry marked the beginning of a transformative chapter — both for Steven and for Cantiro.
Since joining the company in 2015, Steven has played a pivotal role in Cantiro’s financial growth. Under his leadership, the company’s assets have grown from $300 million to over $500 million, and he has secured more than $500 million in funding for developments. His strategic oversight has helped bring landmark projects like West Block Glenora and CX Downtown to life — developments that now form part of Edmonton’s urban identity.
But Steven’s impact goes far beyond the balance sheet.
Investing in the Next Generation
A lifelong Edmontonian, Steven is deeply committed to giving back to the community that shaped him. For over two decades, he has coached youth hockey, mentoring young athletes and fostering teamwork and resilience. He also serves as board chair for Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS), a low-barrier shelter supporting vulnerable youth.
Through his leadership, Cantiro has strengthened its partnership with YESS, contributing over $100,000 in support through a charity golf tournament — a testament to Steven’s ability to align corporate values with community needs.
“I had different advantages growing up that not everybody has,” Steven says. “You want to be able to help people who don’t have those advantages and try and help them as much as you can.”

Why This Recognition Matters
Edify’s Top 40 Under 40 celebrates individuals who are not only excelling in their fields but also driving meaningful change. This year’s honourees are tackling urgent challenges — from affordability and urban growth to youth support and inclusivity — and Steven’s story exemplifies that spirit.
His recognition is a reflection of the values we hold at Cantiro: strategic excellence, community leadership, and a commitment to building a better future.
