Cantiro Shines as Gold Sponsor at Edmonton Design Week
Cantiro was proud to serve as a Gold Sponsor of 2025 Edmonton Design Week – a festival to promote the significance of design in creating a vibrant communities hosted by MADE (Media Architecture Design Edmonton). This annual event is a movement that empowers designers, artisans, and makers, reminding us why Edmonton is such a special place to live.

Why Design Matters to Cantiro
At Cantiro, we believe that great design transforms lives. A well-designed home is a space that supports everyday living, fosters connection, and reflects the personality of those who inhabit it. Our design philosophy centers on creating homes that are functional, beautiful, and adaptable to the rhythms of modern life.
Designers play a critical role in this process. A good designer doesn’t just notice the world, they interpret it. They observe how people live, work, and interact, and then translate those insights into spaces that empower those experiences. Whether it’s a kitchen that encourages family meals or a community layout that promotes walkability, thoughtful design makes life better.
Supporting events like Edmonton Design Week is part of our commitment to nurturing this creative ecosystem. By investing in local design initiatives, we help amplify voices that shape the future of our city.

What is a Pecha Kucha?
One of the most engaging events of the week was the Pecha Kucha presentation. It is a format that originated in Japan and has become a global phenomenon. Pecha Kucha means “chit-chat,” and it’s designed to keep presentations concise and dynamic: 20 slides, 20 seconds per slide. This fast-paced style allows multiple speakers to share their ideas in a single session, creating a rich tapestry of perspectives.
At Edmonton Design Week, the Pecha Kucha featured voices from across the design spectrum: students, architects, designers, and development professionals. Each presentation offered a unique lens on design, from global inspirations like the Teshima Art Museum in Japan to the Blue Mosque in Turkey, to local studios and artisans shaping Edmonton’s creative identity. This format ensures that many different voices are heard, sparking conversations that continue long after the event ends.

Celebrating Craftsmanship and Artistry
Design Week also included a celebration of craftsmanship. Attendees explored displays of handmade furniture and rugs, showcasing the artistry and skill of local makers. These pieces remind us that design is deeply human. Behind every chair, table, or textile is a story of creativity, precision, and passion.
For Cantiro, this emphasis on craftsmanship resonates deeply. We know that the details matter: the texture of a countertop, the curve of a railing, the way natural light moves through a room. These elements elevate a home from ordinary to extraordinary. By supporting artisans and designers, we help preserve the integrity and beauty of these details in our communities.
Empowering Edmonton’s Creative Community
Edmonton Design Week is a catalyst for growth and innovation. It provides a platform for emerging designers, students, and volunteers to share their work, gain exposure, and connect with mentors. For young creatives, these opportunities are invaluable, offering guidance and inspiration as they begin their careers.
The week also sparks important conversations about the role of design in shaping cities. How can we create spaces that are inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant? How do we balance aesthetics with functionality? These discussions influence not only individual projects but the broader vision for Edmonton’s future.

Looking Ahead
We extend our gratitude to the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors who made Edmonton Design Week possible. Events like this remind us why Edmonton is such a special place to live: a city where creativity thrives and collaboration drives progress.
Cantiro is proud to champion design excellence, and we look forward to continuing our support for initiatives that empower designers and enrich our communities. Together, we can create the environments for amazing lives to happen.
