Cantiro Participates in BILD Program at NAIT

Supporting the Trades That Build Our Homes
Cantiro believes in the importance of skilled trades in shaping the homes and communities we live in. The BILD program at NAIT is designed to “elevate the parity of esteem for skilled trades careers,” emphasizing that careers in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and other trades are valuable and rewarding.
The demand for skilled tradespeople is constant and ever-growing, especially in the face of Canada’s housing shortage. With the rising demand for housing and infrastructure development, the need for qualified tradespeople is greater than ever. Programs like BILD are critical in ensuring that students have access to the resources and support they need to pursue these essential careers.

Increasing Accessibility to Trades Education
That is why Cantiro has provided a total of $50,000 towards the BILD program, spread across four different funding opportunities for students interested in the carpentry, electrical, or plumbing programs at NAIT:
- The Cantiro Achievers Grant: This grant is designed to provide assistance to historically excluded students who are in good academic standing, offering a chance for those who have faced challenges to continue their education.
- The Cantiro Build-Up & The Cantiro Kickstart Bursaries: These bursaries are awarded to students who demonstrate both academic achievement and financial need, ensuring that hard-working students can pursue their passion without the added stress of financial insecurity.
- The Cantiro Leadership Award: This award recognizes community-minded students who volunteer their time and efforts to causes that resonate with them.
The BILD Program doesn’t just provide financial support—it also focuses on creating a welcoming learning environment for all students, with particular emphasis on engaging Indigenous students, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and AFAB (Assigned Female at Birth) students. By supporting underrepresented groups in the trades, we are helping to foster a more inclusive industry that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
Looking Ahead
At Cantiro, we believe that supporting education and training for skilled tradespeople is an investment in the future of our communities. We are proud to support the BILD Program at NAIT, knowing that these bursaries and awards will empower the next generation of tradespeople to succeed.
The future of housing in Canada depends on the availability of skilled workers, and Cantiro is committed to helping make that future a reality by supporting trades education. Through these efforts, we are not only helping students achieve their goals but also building stronger, more vibrant communities for everyone.
