Building Canadian: Cantiro’s Commitment to Local Materials

At Cantiro, we believe that where your home comes from matters. That’s why we’ve made it a priority to build with Canadian-made materials supporting local suppliers, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring quality that’s built for life in Alberta.

In a time when global trade shifts and supply chain disruptions are making headlines, our response is simple: focus on what we can control. By sourcing over 90% of our materials from Canadian partners, we’re not just building homes – we’re building resilience, community, and confidence for our homeowners.

Why Local Matters More Than Ever

Recent trade policies, including U.S. tariffs on imported steel, aluminum, and other materials, have added complexity to the homebuilding landscape. While these measures are part of broader geopolitical shifts, their ripple effects are felt in communities like ours where affordability, quality, and reliability are paramount.

Rather than dwell on the uncertainty, we’ve chosen to focus on what we can control: building homes that are proudly Canadian, from the ground up.

90% Canadian-Made and Growing

Even before tariffs became a headline issue earlier this year, our homes were already composed of 85% Canadian-made materials. Today, that number has grown to 90%. Our goal is simple: to support Canadian industry, reduce reliance on unpredictable global supply chains, and deliver consistent value to our homeowners.

Whenever possible, we choose Canadian-made products—unless a specific material is unavailable domestically or would significantly impact the quality or affordability of the home for our buyers. This balanced approach ensures we stay true to our values while continuing to deliver exceptional homes at a fair price.

Recent Supplier Shifts That Reflect Our Values

We’ve made strategic changes to our sourcing to align with this vision:

  • Switched floor joist systems to Nordic Stuctures, which provides 100% Canadian-made engineered wood products.
  • Upgraded carpets to Beaulieu Canada, another trusted name offering 100% Canadian-made flooring solutions.

These decisions aren’t just about logistics—they’re about values. We believe in supporting Canadian jobs, reducing our environmental footprint, and building homes that are made for life in Alberta.

Our Broader Canadian Supply Network

We’re proud to partner with a wide range of Canadian suppliers, including:

These partnerships help us maintain quality, reduce delays, and keep pricing stable—while fostering jobs and economic development within Canada.

Why Canadian-Made Is a Win for Everyone

Choosing Canadian-made materials isn’t just good for builders—it’s good for homeowners and communities:

  • Job Creation: Supporting local suppliers means supporting Canadian workers.
  • Environmental Responsibility: Shorter transportation routes mean lower emissions.
  • Climate-Ready Materials: Products designed for Canadian weather perform better and last longer.
  • Economic Resilience: A strong domestic supply chain helps shield us all from global disruptions.

Looking Ahead with Confidence

While the global trade landscape continues to evolve, our commitment remains the same: to build high-quality homes that reflect the best of Canadian craftsmanship and values. By choosing Cantiro, you’re not just buying a home—you’re investing in a stronger, more resilient future for Alberta.
